I'm new to Oak Cliff, but I’ve passed this place a billion times but never would have guessed what’s inside- an intimate yet refined New Orleans-inspired restaurant with Creole influence woven into the décor. It’s giving classic NOLA old-school charm in both flavor and atmosphere.
I lived and ate my way through New Orleans for two years- everything from homemade meals at friends' houses to gas station gumbo that tasted way better than it sounds. So trust me when I say Restaurant Beatrice is the real deal.
Inside Scoop:
Perfect for a date night, special occasion or impressing out-of-town guests.
The bar does not disappoint! I can imagine myself going on a solo-date to the bar to enjoy charbroiled oysters, a glass bourbon (or mocktail, nowadays) and a Mavs game.
Owned & led by women—shoutout to Michelle Carpenter, who also runs Zen Sushi in Bishop Arts (my go-to local spot for happy hour handrolls).
What We Ate:
Drinks – Unique, balanced, and crafted with skill. The restaurant manager was absolutely locked in, shaking drinks with one hand, stirring with the other.
Rocks, Ruby & Rosemary (Gin, Graefruit and Elderflower): Flawless.
The mocktail selection was also impressive—loved the margarita mocktail.
Uncle Nearest on the Rocks: a lovely drink with a sentimental story.
Savory Beignets – The best I’ve had since La Petite Grocery in NOLA. Perfectly golden, airy, and paired beautifully with the remoulade.
Greens – My only critique of the night. A bit too salty, but I’ve been spoiled with the best homemade greens growing up, so others may feel differently.
Jalapeño Cornbread – I knew it was perfect before even taking a bite. Moist, with an ideal crumbly mouthfeel. Bad cornbread announces itself before you even taste it, I knew this was good as soon as I picked it up
Charbroiled Oysters – PERFECTION. Buttery, garlicky, and the hot sauce is already incorporated (how thoughtful).
Shrimp & Grits – A classic that was expertly executed and elevated. The tomato-based sauce tied everything together; each bite was a perfect balance of flavors.

Blackened Red Fish with Crab & Shrimp, topped with Crawfish Cream Sauce – The waiter recommended the crawfish add-on, and they did not miss. Luxurious, rich, and packed with flavor.

Final Thoughts
My only regret is that I wish I had booked a Fat Tuesday reservation to celebrate Mardi Gras with proper Cajun cuisine! I finally understand the hype around Restaurant Beatrice. This was the perfect spot to bring my parents while they were in town.
Every dish was thoughtful, decadent, and layered with flavor. True comfort food. I'll be back to see what new seasonal items hit the rotating menu to satisfy my next southern creole cravings.
